French shipping company CMA CGM has announced that the latest regulatory restrictions on cargo destined for Algeria prohibit any transshipment or transit options through Morocco, resulting in additional costs.
To address this issue, CMA CGM will impose a freight adjustment fee (FRT68) on all cargo from West African ports to Algeria from February 15, 2024 (loading date) until further notice.
Freight adjustment fees are applicable to both dry cargo and refrigerated cargo. The rate for dry cargo is US$269 per TEU and the rate for refrigerated containers is US$377 per TEU.
