Maersk has decided to renew its seasonal inland and ocean services from South Africa’s Eastern Cape loading port of Geberha to northern and southern Europe.
The Danish ocean shipping company said it will provide a seven-ship weekly service starting in May 2024.
Maersk’s “FruitBridge” service will connect export cargo from Gebelha to various destinations via transshipment at the ports of Algeciras, Spain, and Tangier, Morocco.
The first ship to call Gqeberha will be the 2007-built container ship Celsius Boston, which will dock in the 20th week of this year.
